Red Dog Poker

Red Dog Poker is also commonly referred to as Acey-Deucey, In-Between and Between the Sheets. The cards in the game are usually dealt from a shoe containing 4 or 5 decks. However single-deck games are by no means very rare, as are games using 6 or 8 decks.

Red Dog is played with two cards dealt face up to each player. Each player bets on whether a 3rd card will rank between the initial 2 cards dealt. Cards rank from ace (highest) down to two (lowest).

The goal behind Red Dog poker is to gamble on the spread between two original cards & the odds of a third card dealt falling between (and not identical to either of) the two cards. The game is played using a single deck of 52 cards which are shuffled after each round. Player can double original bet after viewing cards.

Red Dog Poker Card Values

The card values in Red Dog are the same as those in regular poker. However, suits are irrelevant & aces are always counted as high.

Jack - 11
Queen -12
King - 13
Ace - 14
All other cards are worth their face value

Spread Payoffs

The amount of money paid out to Red Dog poker players depends on the spread between the 2 initial cards. The smaller the spread, the lower the likelihood of drawing a 3rd card that falls between them, hence the greater the payout. Below are Red Dog’s spreads and payoffs:

Spread Between First 2 Cards Odds/Payoff
1 5:1
2 4:1
3 2:1
4-11 1 to 1 (Evens)
Consecutive Tie/Push (Bet is returned to player)
Pair Tie/Push (Bet is returned to player)

Red Dog Poker’s Renaissance

The great thing about playing Red Dog on the Internet is that there are increasingly more player features designed to give your better control over your gambling environment. Though not all online casino sites are alike and provide the same services, for the most part the better ones do. Some of these special features include the overall speed of the game, graphic quality,
sound effects, the dealer’s voice, and more.

Though Red Dog poker is believed to be dropping in popularity among land casinos, online the game is experiencing a steady surge and as such, more online gambling Web sites are adding Red Dog to their game repertoires. A simple search in Google using the keywords ‘online Red Dog poker’ will result in literally hundreds of gaming sites offering their versions of the game. Which ever venue you ultimately decide on, good luck and have lots of fun!
